About me

Eva - language and writing teacher

Hi!

Hi! I’m Eva, a language and writing teacher.
I’ve always loved literature—especially Russian and American—and films. Some of my favorites include Pulp Fiction, Lost in Translation, and A Special Day.

Italian is my first language, but I also speak five others at various levels. I’ve moved around Europe about thirteen times. More than traveling, I love living in the world—but at the end of the day, I’m always searching for a sense of home.

I was born at the end of June 1995 and grew up between Milan and a small town in the province of Parma. Summers were spent with my grandfather, our dog and cat, surrounded by gardens and woods. So I’ve always felt at home both in big cities and in nature.

MY STORY

My life has always been about adventure, exploration, and discovery.

When I was nine, I visited Cambridge to see a family friend and realized that what I wanted most in life was to explore the world—not as a tourist, but by immersing myself in different realities, learning local languages, and connecting deeply with people.

My relationship with languages has never been about grades. It has always been about love, curiosity, and the search for home

  • English was the first: learned in school and nurtured through films, books, and international friends. I imagined myself as English, living in a countryside college.
  • German came next, at 17, after a summer crush on a German boy. I worked on a farm in Baden-Württemberg and then spent a year in Bremen, diving deep into the language.
  • At 21, I worked in a hostel in Scotland, where I found a true sense of community and friendships full of philosophical chats and adventurous stories.
  • At 22, I started university and graduated in Foreign Languages and Literatures, choosing two new languages: French and Russian. I fell in love with French cinema and Russian literature.
  • Spanish came last, at 23, when I visited Barcelona to see a friend and decided to stay. I lived four years in Spain—Barcelona, Madrid (where I did a Master’s in sexology and gender studies), and Granada, working in a social community.

Other formative experiences include:

  • Teaching English at a refugee camp on Chios, Greece (2022)
  • Two road trips across the US in 2023 and 2024, the first solo, the second with company

I haven’t yet found the place where I want to put down roots—but I’ve found them in the people I love, scattered across the world, and in writing and teaching, which allow me to form meaningful connections and constantly learn from my students while sharing what I know.

what I believe in

What I Care About

I believe teaching is a form of deep, transformative human exchange, and writing is a way to express creativity and practice a little personal therapy.

I see languages not as trophies or a race for perfection, but as bridges into other people’s lives and minds—ways to understand different perspectives and form authentic connections.

For me, teaching and learning through languages, writing, and literature is my favorite way to feel at home.

HOW IT WORKS

What I Do and Who I Work With

Becoming a teacher wasn’t a Plan B—it’s always been my dream.
As a child, I’d line up my stuffed animals and pretend to teach when I should have been doing homework.

During university, I got my DITALS certification to teach Italian to foreigners and later became certified to teach English as well. I’ve taught in various schools, both online and in person, and discovered exactly who I love working with.

With my online school, I aim to create a space for intermediate and advanced students who want to:

  • Improve their expressive abilities
  • Do it naturally
  • Explore authentic cultural content
  • Learn at their own pace

I provide structure, support, attentive listening, and genuine interest in each student

I believe success in learning also depends on the connection with the teacher: there’s no one-size-fits-all, only the right match for you.

If you think languages are about entering other people’s lives—not just memorizing rules—you’ll probably feel at home here.
